Trade forum
MEXICO – Gov. John E. Baldacci and Congressman Mike Michaud will host a trade forum at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Mexico Town Hall. State Sens. Bruce Bryant, D-Dixfield, and Rep. John Patrick, D-Rumford, members of the Maine Trade Policy Committee, will also participate.
The session will cover the impact of the “free trade” policies of the Bush administration, the issues of outsourcing, down-sizing and relocating businesses and jobs overseas and the impact of such policies on Maine and the region.
The forum will be preceded by a benefit spaghetti dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. Donations of $5 will benefit the local food pantry. For more information, contact Bruce Roy at 621-2314.
Healthy brains
AUBURN – A “Maintain Your Brain” workshop will be presented by the Alzheimer’s Association from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Clover Manor, 440 Minot Ave.
New research indicates that lifestyle choices can affect brain health and risk for dementia. Maintain Your Brain is a national campaign that offers advice on how to keep the brain healthy by managing overall health.
