To tax or to fee? That is the question! For the purpose of definition, let’s call it a storm water utility ‘charge.’

That charge never meant much to me, until I saw Lewiston City Administrator Jim Bennett’s childish reaction to the petition drive now under way to suspend it.

Why not give the residents a chance to vote? Instead Bennett reacts like a retaliatory child who doesn’t get his way; no road work, no new hires and nearly $1 million cut to schools. Sure sounds like “scare tactics” to me.

Until I read this account in the Sun Journal, I was ready to pay the “charge.” Now, I’m ready to go downtown to sign the petition.

Get a grip, Bennett!
