BANGOR – Casey Hartley netted two quick goals to open the second half as Bangor posted a 4-0 victory over Mt. Blue in a quarterfinal girls’ soccer match held Tuesday afternoon.
Mt. Blue held No. 1 Bangor scoreless going into halftime, but Bangor (14-0-1) put the pressure on and scored four goals within 20 minutes to secure the victory. Emily Heath and Amy Hackett each scored, while Jenny Lucy was credited with the only assist on Hartley’s second goal. Tawnya Godinez needed to register only one save to secure the shutout.
Mt. Blue (7-6-3) was aggressive throughout the contest, with a strong defensive effort by goaltender Caitlin Scott, who recorded eight saves.
