PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Bryan Ferguson rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns as Husson held off La Salle 17-7 on Saturday.
The Explorers (2-6) opened the game with their only score. Joe Procopio threw a 56-yard TD pass to Lou Russo for a 7-0 lead that La Salle took into the break.
Husson (5-4) didn’t get onto the board until a 31-yard field goal by Darren Gauthier in the third quarter. But in the second half, Ferguson came on to help power the offense.
Ferguson capped an eight-play, 66-yard drive by catching an 18-yard TD pass from David Chase with 3:14 to go in the game for a 10-7 lead. Chase was 9-of-30 for 116 yards and no interceptions.
Husson put the game out of reach and closed the scoring when Ferguson capped a 33-yard drive with a 1-yard TD run with 1:31 to go.
La Salle tried a 26-yard field goal with less than 15 seconds remaining, but Anthony Perluzzo’s score was wiped out by a delay of game. His second attempt after the penalty sailed wide.
