Thomas visit

WATERVILLE – A representative from Thomas College will visit the following local schools:

Leavitt Area High School in Turner on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 9 a.m.

Mt. Blue High School in Farmington on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8:30 a.m.

The representative will discuss Thomas’s academic and sports programs and its residential life opportunities. For more information, visit www.thomas.edu.

Monday Club

FARMINGTON – The Monday Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday,Nov. 6, at the Holman House next door to the Old South Congregational Church. This will be a membership tea, so each member should bring a guest.

The speaker will be Dr. Elizabeth Cooke, UMF professor of composition and humanities and a well-known area author.

Hostesses will be Jean Longyear, Mitzie Livermore, Ruth Knapp, Vera Bergman, Loraine Norton and Nancy Flick.

Book Club meets

DIXFIELD – The Ludden Memorial Library Book Club held its first meeting on Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. The group decided to continue to meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the library. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, November’s meeting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

The group is reading “The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town” by John Grisham. New members are welcome and one does not have to be a library patron to join.
