LEWISTON – A late-night call to police and two spent .25-caliber handgun shells are the only evidence of gunfire reported in the neighborhood of Courthouse Plaza Wednesday.

Police responded to a report of three or four gunshots and reports of a fight near the plaza at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Police responded but didn’t find anything out of order, according Lt. Mike McGonagle.

“They could find no evidence of a fight, but they did find two shells from a handgun,” he said.

Police are looking for witnesses.

“We have not heard anything from any victims or anyone that has come forward as witnesses,” he said.

Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to call the LPD at 795-9000.
