LEWISTON – Roxie Black, Ph.D., OTR/L, program director of the Master of Occupational Therapy program at USM Lewiston-Auburn, is the new president of the Maine Occupational Therapy Association.
The MEOTA is a nonprofit organization representing more than 300 occupational therapy practitioners. Founded in 1976, it is committed to the fostering of continued competence of occupational therapy practitioners, serves as a state resource and furthers the practice of occupational therapy through research and study.
Black has been the director of the MOT program since 1997. Her clinical experience includes 25 years of practice in pediatrics, working with children from infancy through adolescence. Her doctoral studies focused on multicultural curricula for health professions and her dissertation research examined the meaning of cultural competence.
