1. I am sincerely concerned with the direction this state has taken. We have created a business climate that discourages economic growth and, hence, limits good jobs. Our tax policies are driving capitalists and entrepreneurs elsewhere. It is time to think outside of the box and try new ideas.

2. Tax reform and economic development, as well as attacking the spiraling medical costs.

3. I support TABOR. The potential positive effects significant outweigh any potential downside. The positive is that more power is given to the people to rein the unbridled spending lobby. Maine cannot continue to be one of the highest taxed states in the U.S. Change is never easy, but we cannot conduct our business as we have always done.

4. No one should be discriminated against for reasons of ethnicity, religion, color of skin, sexual orientation, etc. We all need to respect our fellow human beings. America and Maine do not have room for bigotry. Marriage by definition is the uniting of a man and a woman. Abortion as a means of birth control is wrong and to wrap it up as a choice is ludicrous.

5. Certainly, the several thousand folks who have utilized Dirigo have benefited. But, the costs of same are prohibitive and we are all paying too much for this ill-conceived idea. The recent revelation of the huge salaries being “earned” for the administration of Dirigo is part of the trouble. Perhaps opening the door to real competition and the free marketplace would do wonders for us.
