1. I would like to serve the people of Lewiston’s District 74 and Maine find a path through myriad socioeconomic, health, educational and environmental challenges we face. I believe the democratic process, with constituent input and legislative debate, is the best way to accomplish this.
2. As a member of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, I hear how hard it is to run a business in Maine. We must support our businesses to have a robust economy. That is how we can afford services and supports which we know are good for Maine people.
3. I believe TABOR circumvents the individual accountability each legislator has to their constituents. If the public does not like the rate of taxation or various public policies, etc., they should elect new legislators who have the capacity to work collaboratively and utilize critical reasoning. TABOR is a risky proposition.
4. Social issues should be constantly addressed to assure a fair and democratic society. Regarding abortion, I don’t favor of it, however it is right. People seeking abortion should counsel with a qualified health care professional its risks/benefits, then a “cooling off” period in which a person can reconsider.
5. Dirigo Health has not stopped health insurance inflation or adequately covered Mainers who, due to the many vicissitudes of life, have no coverage. I believe we need a national health care system, since Maine clearly does not have the economy of scale to afford its own universal health care.
