1. Being a lifelong resident, I feel I have an understanding of the people of Lewiston, and a good listening ear. In my work career, I have always been associated with the public. I also have full intentions of working both sides of the aisle for the good of Lewiston and the state.

2. My top priority would have to be serious tax reform. The growing elderly population are really getting hit hard with our current tax structure, especially real estate taxes. The working class, as well, need tax breaks, and have the ability of buying their first homes.

3. I am against TABOR. It is very restrictive. Serving on the Lewiston School Committee has made me realize the hardships it could mean for our kids. We can not govern strictly by referendum if a need arrives, whether it’s normal growth, heath insurance going up for our teachers and administrators, our special education kids, etc.

4. I am proud to say that Lewiston schools have anti-discrimination policies. I would hope at the state level there is a similar law on the books. Here in Lewiston the past several years, we have a more diversified population. I feel it has made us a richer community. I am pro-life.

5. Dirigo Heath has enrolled many, but is far from its goal. Talking with constituents, many feel the cost is way high, either in premiums, or sky high deductibles. I would like to see the state look at different carriers, even if it means going out of state. Where there is competition, that usually means cheaper rates.
