1. I am confident I could work collaboratively to create a new and revitalized business climate and tax base. I want to fight for a fair tax structure. I am confident I could make a positive difference and look forward to that opportunity.

2. Seek collaborative improvements and solutions to Maine’s status as a high taxed state. We are a state that has suffered losses of manufacturing and agricultural jobs. Property taxes have increased to make up for their losses. A new economy must be pursued with the business community contributing to the solution.

3. I do not support TABOR. Research has shown that if TABOR were to be enacted, it will deplete our vital services budgets, including K-12, and higher education systems, the future of Maine’s economy. This is not what Maine needs; we need a responsible, realistic fiscal reduction plan to lower taxes.

4. I don’t think social issues have, or will play a major role this year. Social concerns and legislation are very important, but in this cycle, voters have been more concerned with TABOR, taxes, local issues, minimum wage and energy solutions. Social issues have remained quiet.

5. Affordable, accessible health care is essential to the viability of our economy. Continuing to emphasize wellness and preventive medicine is part of the solution. Dirigo Health hasn’t lived up to its first year expectations; consequently Dirigo is seeking alternative funding and adjustments while finding solutions for Maine’s uninsured or underinsured citizens.
