Dear Sun Spots Readers: The Senior Companion Program is looking for several caring people, in the Lewiston/Auburn area, who would like to make a difference in the lives of the homebound elderly.

If you are 60 years of age or older and on a fixed income you may be eligible to become a senior companion.

Companions provide friendly visiting and respite for caregivers.

The program is sponsored by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and is partnered with SeniorsPlus and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. Companions receive a tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement and other benefits. Please call Anna Saar at 1-800-287-1482 for more information. Thank you for caring. – Anna Saar, South Paris.
