AUBURN – Good Shepherd Food-Bank’s staff members and board of directors will host a special 25th anniversary celebration – an open house gathering from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 3121 Hotel Road. The public is invited for refreshments, tours of the facility and to meet new Executive Director Rick Small.

Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello will read a proclamation of Good Shepherd Food-Bank Day issued by Gov. John Baldacci’s office at 6 p.m. Immediately following, food-bank representative will honor 19 recipients with its 2006 Very Important Partner awards. Recipients were chosen for their uncompromising commitment to the food bank and feeding Maine’s hungry.

Good Shepherd provides food to more than 550 nonprofit agencies throughout the state. Last year the food bank distributed nearly 10 million pounds of food throughout Maine. For more information, visit www.gsfb.org.
