Legion hours
RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24 has announced a change in hours. Starting Monday, Nov. 13, the post will open at noon and close at 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday on a trial basis.
The post’s Thursday night meal will continue to be served from 5 p.m. until sold out on the first and third Thursdays of the month. The meal is open to the public and members, and take-outs are available by calling 369-9053.
Class luncheon
MEXICO – The Stephens High School Class of 1955 will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Covered Wagon. For more information, call Geneva Raymond.
Blood drive
BETHEL – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Gould Academy on Church Street.
Open house
MEXICO – The Region 9 School of Applied Technology will host its annual community open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9. It is an opportunity for parents, students, prospective students and community members to learn about the programs at Region 9, meet teachers and tour the facility. Call 364-3764 for details.
Class reunion
RUMFORD – All members of the Rumford High School Class of 1987 are invited to meet at noon Saturday, Nov. 11, at Dino’s Pizza, Rumford Center, to discuss ideas for next year’s 20th class reunion.

D of I program
RUMFORD – St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will have a memorial at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at St. Athanasius and St. John Church to honor deceased members.
Following the memorial, a supper and meeting will be held in the parish center. Members are asked to bring a hot dish or salad and the committee will furnish the desserts. Chairwoman Druscilla Breton and Co-Chairwoman Pat Hopkins will lead the committee, including members Florence Blanchard, Eileen Chaisson, Janet Beaudet and Charlene Johnson.
Members are also reminded to turn in their ticket money for the food basket, a Thanksgiving basket, which will be drawn Nov. 18.
Class meeting
MEXICO – The Mexico High School Class of 1959 is invited to meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Dick’s Restaurant.
Library fundraiser
MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library is holding a holiday fundraiser through Friday, Dec. 8. In co-operation with Downeast Magazine, library staff is selling subscriptions to the publication.
The yearly cost of a subscription to Downeast Magazine is $26. For every new subscription, the library will receive $12, and for every subscription renewal, the library will receive $5. Holiday orders will begin with the January 2007 issue.
