Curtis Jack, or as his friends at Carrie Ricker Middle School know him, Curt Jack has been involved with teaching for almost 20 years. He has previously taught 6th grade and 8th grade. Curt has been the assistant principal at Carrie Ricker Middle School for two years now. He said that working as a teacher and working as an assistant principal are two very different things. “When you teach, it’s about the kids, but when you are an assistant principal, it’s about everyone.” Mr. Jack says.

When Mr. Jack was in school, his teachers helped him a lot. He said that they put him on the right path. After school, he went to UMF to be a teacher. “I wanted to be a teacher so I could give back to teaching what it gave to me.” He stated. Mr. Jack says that if you want to be a teacher, you have to be ready to work. He also said to start early, and get involved with your school. One of the things he said would be good for kids who want to be a teacher is to find a teacher and talk to them about the teaching field.

Mr. Jack has big ideas for this school year, and I am sure he is already working on some of them right now. In my opinion, Curtis Jack has already achieved his goal to give back to teaching what it gave to him, because I know that without Mr. Jack, I wouldn’t be the same person that I am today.
