THORNTON, N.H. (AP) – At least two teenagers have been elected to the New Hampshire House.

In Nashua, Andrew Edwards, 19, took one of 10 seats in Hillsborough District 26 and Jeffrey Fontas, 19, won one of three seats in District 24. Both are Democrats. Edwards attends the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts and Fontas goes to Northeastern University in Boston.

Fontas said he wants to get young people more involved in politics and see more people his age in office.

Two other teens lost runs for the Legislature.

Democrat Alexander Gallichon, 18, fell short in Nashua and independent Tyler Stearns, 18, of Thornton lost his try for a House seat representing Thornton and Woodstock.

Stearns came in second out of three candidates in a race for a single seat in Grafton County District 4. In election returns, The Associated Press erroneously reported that Stearns came in last in Grafton County District 6.
