ORONO – Health occupations students from all around Maine participated in the Fall Health Occupations Students of America Conference on Nov. 3 at the University of Maine.

The students took part in a recognition program for their advisers. Receiving appreciation certificates were Karla Gordon from Bath Regional Vocational Center, Vicky Gerstenberger from Foster Regional Applied Technology Center, Mary Brennan from Portland Art and Technology High School, Mary Evan from Region 10 in Brunswick and Beth Weatherbee from Tri-County Technical Center.

Gail Mazzaro, Roanne Seeley and Vanessa Cousins discussed past and future state and national leadership conferences. Students took part in an educational symposium on leadership, led by Margaret Harvey, educational specialist.

Students also learned about this year’s National HOSA service project, autism, from Heidi Bowden. The conference ended with a tour of the University of Maine.
