LEWISTON – Police responded to a call of a gunshot wound to the head Sunday night only to find a man who had fallen and bumped his head.
The call came from the emergency room at Central Maine Medical Center around 11 p.m. for a man who had admitted himself to the hospital and reported getting shot in the head.
When police arrived, it was apparent that the man had not been shot, said Lt. James Minkowsky. The hospital was doing an MRI on the man just to be sure.
“We did a sweep through of his apartment and nothing suggested a gunshot,” Minkowsky said. More than likely, the man was intoxicated and fell, he added.
