PARIS – A Peru man arrested Wednesday has been charged with breaking into a Sumner convenience store.

This is the second arrest made for the incident that happened late Sunday night or early Sunday morning, said Oxford County Sheriff’s Office deputy Justin Brown.

Max Haynes, 19, of 244 Valley Road, Peru, was booked into the Oxford County Jail at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief. He was released on $500 cash bail.

Brown suspected Haynes’ involvement in the break-in after arresting Jesse Arsenault, 19, of 180 Packard Road, Peru. Brown had interviewed Arsenault, which, he said, lead him to Haynes.

During the break-ins, $500 in alcohol, tobacco and food were stolen and $200 in damage was done to the store.

Arsenault is still being held at the jail on $500 cash bail. Both cases have been turned over to Oxford County Superior Court.
