Cell phones. There are a lot of kids my age who have cells phones but I do not. I haven’t entirely decided whether or not I want a cell phone. There are many pros and cons to owning one. I do because then I could talk to my family and friends whenever I wanted and it could be used for emergencies. But then I don’t because it could get stolen or I could go over my minutes and have a big bill, and I don’t want that!!
Out of my whole class of eighth graders pretty much everybody has one. Not everyone but a high percentage. Most of my friends have one. My mom won’t let me have one until I’m older because she thinks that I don’t need one at my age right now. I don’t really care, I can wait.
These days it seems that kids seem to be growing up quite fast. Cell phones are only one of the things that prove this. If you look back 5-7 years ago you don’t see anyone in the seventh and eighth grade owning a cell phone. You probably wouldn’t even see high school age owning one. Today everyone has one, from fifth or sixth grade going up to the elderly people. Is this a positive or a negative thing? I guess it all depends on the maturity of the cell phone holder.
