For the first time ever in Bruce M. Whittier Middle School history, there was a coed soccer team. The team finished recently completed the season with an astounding 1-5-2 record.

People reading this might not think it is so astounding, but it truly is because no matter what their record was, these Mid-Knights kept their heads up high with astonishing determination and grew a great deal from their experience.

Trevor Morin, a striker, said, “Coed was a great new learning experience, because it taught me something very valuable in life.” He learned that girls could play any sports as well, if not better, than boys. In fact, he said, “Girls taught me new techniques and because of that I am a better player.” He would like more coed sports.

Abbie Ketchen, a mid-fielder, said, “It was fun. I now feel less pressured when I am playing around girls.” She also wants more coed sports.

Tianna Linton, a halfback, said, “I had an awesome time in coed soccer. Playing with boys my age has made me tougher and I appreciated the chance to challenge boys and prove that girls can play sports just as well.”

The coed soccer team represented BMWMS in a special way that was inspiring to the school community. Throughout this season this team never gave up, and they overcame differences to work as a team. Their sweat represented the hard work, loyalty, passion, and determination that it takes to be a historic team. Great job, Mid-Knights!
