Haven’t you noticed how almost all extracurricular activities are sports. But what if you don’t play sports? There are always those kids who just aren’t interested in them. If you don’t play sports, it may seem that there is nothing to do.
But there is an alternative. Theater is always an option. Even for those who play sports, it’s always something to try. You just have to keep your eyes open for opportunities like the local theater starting a children’s workshop.
Theater opens up some opportunity, something different, a little variety. It really is something everyone should try at least once, just to see if they like it. And if they do, then they can continue to be involved with theater.
Also, it can be a good opportunity to get to know new people, from different schools, different towns, but with similar interests.
It really is great fun. I’ve done a couple shows before, mostly musicals such as “The Music Man” and “Once Upon a Mattress,” to name a few. But because of this I’ve made great friends, had a great time, and ultimately found something I loved to do.
The best thing to do is to start with some small time, children’s theater. Here you can learn how to audition for a play, play plenty of theater games, and usually, it ends with some sort of children’s show, just to get the children to experience the real thing.
This is a great way to start, because now you know what to do. Now you can go to a theater and audition, with an idea of what you need to do.
So with all this said, go out and try some theater! You won’t regret it.
