LEWISTON – Rob Stockwell scored 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds as Bates blew open a close game with 53 points in the second half, routing Endicott 91-53 in men’s basketball.
The Bobcats (4-0) grabbed 16 offensive rebounds after halftime to key the outburst, and shot a sizzling 55 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. Bryan Wholey added 21 points for Bates, to go along with three assists and a pair of steals, while Zak Ray had five points, four assists, and four rebounds.
Mike Sullivan led Endicott with 17 points, and sophomore Ross Stewart chipped in with nine points.
Colby 79, UNE 55
BIDDEFORD – Nick Farrell had 22 points, seven steals, and four assists as Colby ran away with a 79-55 victory over the University of New England.
The Mules converted all 14 of their free-throw attempts in the first half as Colby (2-2) built a 42-24 lead. Drew Cohen notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.
Brandon Cochrane knocked down a career-high 13 points off the bench for the winless Nor’Easters (0-4). Joe Selmer had 12 points for UNE, and Isaac Stickey chipped in with five points and 11 rebounds.
CMCC 73, UMA 57
AUGUSTA – Caleb Violet scored 28 points to lead Central Maine CC to a 73-57 victory over Maine-Augusta.
Nate Damm chipped in with 15 points and Save Labonte added 10 for the Mustangs (6-5). Dean Cheers scored 20 points for the Moose (2-4), who trailed CMCC 39-29 at the half.
Women’s basketball
CMCC 77, UMA 60
AUGUSTA – Kerri Harris scored 14 points to propel Central Maine Community College to a 77-60 victory over the University of Maine at Augusta.
Quintina Young and Marci Moors each netted 13 points for the Mustangs. Justine Frost-Colva returned from injury to spark CMCC with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.
Aleigh Mills kept UMA in the game with 21 points, and Sharmaine Clemente added 20 points. Natalie Nimon scored 13 points and knocked down three 3-pointers.
