Dear Sun Spots: For those of you who are asking how to help someone celebrate Christmas this year, know that there are more than 100 tags on the Giving Tree displayed at the Sabattus Regional Credit Union. Please pick up a tag or two, shop for the items, wrap up the gifts and return them by Dec. 16, either to the credit union or to the Dominican Sisters’ convent, 61 Lisbon Road, Sabattus. This would be a great help to Loaves and Fishes, a program dedicated to serving the less fortunate of the area. For more information, do not hesitate to call me at 375-8399. I sincerely thank our volunteer Tina for heading this project, the credit union staff members for their partnership in this endeavor, and Sun Spots for the constant service to the community at-large. Thank you so much. – Sister Lucille Fournier, Sabattus.

Dear Sun Spots: Would any local churches have extras or old hymn books that they could donate to a group of dedicated ministries who visit our nursing home every Sunday. We need between 15 and 20 copies. The following are the most popular songs that our residents enjoy singing:

Hymns from the “Hymns for the Family of God,” published by Paragon Associates, Inc., Nashville, Tenn.

Also, our residents love: “At the Cross;” “In The Garden;” “How Great Thou Art;” “Amazing Grace;” “Battle Hymn of the Republic;” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “America the Beautiful.”

This would be an awesome gift to give them for Christmas, from those very appreciative residents. I will pick up and send a big thank you signed by all the residents and staff. Thanks a million. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I had a response to a previous inquiry for green tomato mince meat from a nurse in Dixfield. She was interested in the figurines for her sister. We didn’t connect. I was hoping she’d call this year, but no such luck so far. I’m sure we can work something out again. I can be reached at 824-0115, most any time.

I’d like to also wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. Your loyal reader. – Gerald Loring, Bethel.
