DOVER, N.H. (AP) – A Strafford woman admits it was dumb to write a note along with her parking ticket fine that said she hoped the police got the flu.

But a jury concluded it also was criminal, especially because the envelope contained a powder that spilled onto Rochester Parking Enforcement Officer Tina Desjardin.

It took a jury 15 minutes this week to convict April Bedell, 36, of creating a false public alarm with the powder and note.

Bedell argued the powder was muffin mix that accidentally got into the envelope while she was paying bills in her kitchen.

She said the note wasn’t a threat, just a dumb thing to write after sneezing on the ticket and her check.

She’ll be sentenced next January.
