WATERFORD – Volunteers from the New Balance facility on Cottage Street were at the Waterford Memorial Elementary School recently working with fifth-grade students in Carol Slade’s art class.

Each week, New Balance volunteers travel from Norway to Waterford to assist with reading and math skills.

Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange Director Maureen Howard initiated the Waterford-New Balance partnership in September 2002. The partnership is coordinated locally by Heather MacIsaac, a human resources staff member at the Cottage Street facility.

The Education Exchange’s goal is to create and coordinate similar partnerships for each school in the district. A business interested in partnering with a school should call Howard at the Education Exchange at 743-8972.
