This is a response to a story Sept. 4 about charges against an alleged drunken driver who tried to outrun police in a high-speed chase on Labor Day weekend in the Lewiston area.

Evading police is a serious, dangerous, violent crime. I think those who try to outrun the police should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Such action is a very serious matter, endangering police officers and possibly innocent citizens caught in the way, or ending up in a serious car accident due to the reckless drunk driver trying to outrun the police.
