Open house

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 9, at 113 Church St.

There will be cookies and cider, pictures with Santa and free sleigh rides around town. It is sponsored by the Farmington Business and Professional Association.

Kids’ shopping

WILTON – St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will once again offer an opportunity for area children to shop for their parents from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the church, corner of School and High streets.

The event will feature new or gently used donated gifts. Prices will range from 25 cents to $1. Adults will be available to assist children in their shopping, and free gift wrapping will be included in the price of the gift.

Noon luncheon

FARMINGTON – Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. The menu will include hot turkey sandwiches with sausage stuffing and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and chocolate cake.

Delivery service will be available in the Farmington area. Call the church office at 778-0424 during the week or the church kitchen at 778-4438 the morning of the luncheon for meal delivery.

Club party

NEW VINEYARD – The New Vineyard North Snowmobile Club will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Smith Hall for a Christmas party in the form of a tasting party. Men should bring a gift for a man, women for a woman, not over $5. A short business meeting will precede the Christmas party and Santa should be coming.

Church program

CARTHAGE – The Carthage Union Church and the Carthage Historical Society will sponsor “Christmas at the Church” as part of the Christmas in Carthage program.

The program will feature music by Alan Hutchinson on the piano, Doug Twitchell and friends and the music of New Beginnings at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8.

Hutchinson is a local musician who has played at several local churches and events. He is an accomplished artist and his work can be seen in many locations around the area.

Twitchell is from the South Paris area and is noted for his work with the youth group at the South Paris Baptist Church. He will provide music and ventriloquism.

New Beginnings is a Gospel duet from Farmington. They offer a blend of traditional and southern gospel music. Artists Ron and Deb Hodge travel throughout Maine and New England to bring their message of praise and worship.

The concert is free and all are welcome. There will refreshments and fellowship after. An offering box will be available for those who wish.
