RUMFORD – The Oxford County Democratic Committee will host a volunteer appreciation dinner on Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Eagles Hall, featuring homemade chicken pie and an assortment of holiday desserts.

Gov. John E. Baldacci will attend to express his appreciation for the effort Oxford County Democrats made in his re-election campaign. Congressman Mike Michaud will be represented as well.

Oxford County Democratic Chairwoman Cathy Newell, Vice Chairman Roy Gedat and Treasurer Mike Broderick will recognize the exceptional effort by the candidates for county office and legislature and by the volunteers who supported the state, county and legislative campaigns.

“There is much to celebrate in the tremendous victories of Sheriff-elect Wayne Gallant, the pick-up of the house seats by Tim Carter, Terry Hayes and Larry Sirois, and the re-election of Sen. Bruce Bryant, Rep. John Patrick, Register of Deeds Jane Rich and County Treasurer Mary Ann Prue. The strong showings by our remaining candidates continue the effort to build the Democratic Party in our county,” said Newell.

The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. followed by supper at 5:30. Dinner will be free for campaign volunteers. Individuals who did not volunteer are also welcome to attend and donations will be accepted.
