Council party
LEWISTON – Members of Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America and Canada, will meet for the annual Christmas party at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Marco’s Restaurant. There will be a gift exchange. All members and guests are welcome.
Rabies clinic
TURNER – The town of Turner and staff from Turner Veterinary Service will have a rabies clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Turner Fire/Rescue Station, General Turner Hill Road.
The rabies shot will be $10 and dog licensing will be available for Turner residents. The dog licenses are $6 for altered and $10 for unaltered dogs. Neighboring residents are welcomed to take advantage of the clinic.
Choir concert
NEW GLOUCESTER – The Sanctuary Choir of First Congregational-Christian Church of New Gloucester, a United Church of Christ, invites all to join with them at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, for the annual Christmas concert.
The 22-voice choir, under the direction of Steve Jones and Beth Barefoot-Jones of Harrison, will sing timeless favorites, sacred and secular, along with spirituals. The audience will be invited to sing along with the classics.
Copies of the recently-released CD, “Songs for the Journey,” will be on sale. The wheelchair-accessible church is located near the corner of Route 231 on Gloucester Hill Road in the Lower Village of New Gloucester. A free will offering will be taken. For more information, call 926-3260.
Lodge inspection
AUBURN – Ashlar Lodge 105, AF and AM, will conduct its annual inspection on Monday, Dec. 11, at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 1021 Turner St. There will be a 6:30 p.m. supper, with the inspection following at 7:30. For more information, contact Steve Peterson at 777-1728.
OES meeting
WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will gather at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, to honor the officers at the Wales Grange/Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road.
Members will forego a gift exchange and take up a collection for the Maine Veterans Home. Members are reminded to bring a Christmas-related memento with memories to share.
Festivities will begin with a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. The chapter will then recess until the annual meeting on March 13.
Vigil Committee
LISBON – Maine Vietnam Veterans Vigil Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the VFW Post 9459, Route 196.
The agenda will include an update on all POWs/MIAs missing from all wars. Discussion will also be held on a fundraiser. For more information, call 353-2152. Anyone can attend and join the committee.
MS meeting

Blood drive
WINTHROP – There will be a community blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall, Lake Street. The drive is open to all donors. A form of identification is required.
