Horror, fear, suspense & thrills – all at one place! Dracula is brought to the stage by the Auburn Middle School Drama Club. This classic horror has many exciting effects in the show that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The Goth metal music, wild lights, fog, and the spark of personality that each performer has put into their character make for a great show.
The main character of this story, Dracula (Ben Armstrong) is a blood thirsty count that lives in a castle in Transylvania. When Bram Stoker wrote the book, he based the character on a real person, Vlad the Impaler. Living from 1431 to 1476, he was a particularly violent leader in southern Romania. He had been known to invite beggars into his castle and give them a meal at his court. Afterward, he would accuse them of stealing his food, and kill them. Today, he is still remembered for his remarkably cruel forms of punishment, and some believed he came back to life as Count Dracula.
This is the basic story line of the play: Jonathan Harker (Michael Weber) is a young English lawyer traveling to Dracula’s castle in Transylvania. He goes to conclude a real estate deal, but after a few days he realizes that he has become a prisoner within Dracula’s castle. Back in England, Harker’s fiancé, Mina (Melissa Brown) is with her friend Lucy Westenra (Hannah Martin). Dr. Arthur Holmwood (Nate Fairchild) has recently been engaged to Lucy. Dracula (Ben Armstrong ) is moving to the part of London where they are, and Lucy is to be his first victim. Once Lucy is bitten, she starts sleep walking, Dr. Van Helsing (Duncan Gelder) figures out what is wrong with her, but can’t help her. He gets together with Jonathan Harker and the others and they decide to hunt down Dracula…
Mrs. Liz Rollins is the music teacher and director of the drama program at Auburn Middle School.
