KILLINGLY, Conn. (AP) – A crash between a tour bus and pickup left eight people injured and shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 395 in Killingly Sunday night.
The bus, owned by Coach Co. of Merrimack, Mass, was carrying passengers from the Foxwoods Resort Casino to destinations in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, police said.
The bus had pulled onto the northbound breakdown lane of the interstate to change an onboard movie just after 6:15 p.m. and was struck from behind by a truck, police told the Norwich Bulletin.
Police said there were about 25 passengers on the bus, and seven suffered minor injuries. They all were taken to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.
The pickup driver, whose name had not been released Sunday night, was also taken to the hospital with head and neck injuries. His condition was not released.
The other bus passengers were transported by school bus to the Attawaugan Fire Department where they boarded another tour bus.
The highway was reopened shortly after 10 p.m.
