WEST PARIS – Georgine Follett Thayer, 95, of West Paris died Saturday, Dec. 9, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in West Paris after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in New Sharon on Jan. 2, 1911, the daughter of Fred and Ida Maxwell Follett. She graduated from New Sharon High School and received a registered nurse degree from Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary.

She married Curtis Thayer on Oct. 20, 1935. She operated a family farm with her husband for many years. She was a registered nurse at Stephens Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She also worked at Burnham and Morrill as well as A.L. Stewart.

She was the current West Paris Senior Citizen Gold Cane holder for being the oldest resident of West Paris. She was a member of the Sunshine Club for many years and a former member of the Paris Grange.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Stevens, and husband, Vincent, of West Paris, Roger Thayer, and wife, Beverley, of Waterford, Bruce Thayer, and wife, Flora, of Norway and Meriel Bunker, and husband, Stephen, of Barrington, N.H.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren include, Ann Goulding, Marcia Menario, Mark Thayer, Lesa Bunker, Christopher Bunker, Stacy Dean, Darcey Robertson, Benjamin Moody, Jason Thayer, Dustin Tilley, Raymond Dean-Inman and Madison Dean-Inman.

She was predeceased by her husband, Curtis; sisters, Marcia Cushman and Stella Collins; brother, Everett Follett; and grandson, Raymond Dean.
