Students of month announced at OCHS

PARIS – Students of the Month for December at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School are Jessica Riseman, freshman; Crystal Martin, sophomore; Lacey Coore, junior; and Chelsea Simcock, senior. This is the seventh year of the Oxford Hills Rotary Club’s sponsorship of the program.

Each month high school staff members nominate students who they feel have “made a difference in their classroom.” The goal is to reward teamwork, positive behavior, extra effort and good student citizenship.

The program is coordinated through the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange and is part of the character education curriculum at the high school. The nomination form lists character traits from which to choose when nominating students and explaining why that particular student exhibits those traits.

These four students were praised for their positive influence on their classmates by showing courage, hard work, willingness to volunteer, maturity, class leadership and diligence.

The students’ names and picture are placed on a plaque that hangs in the hallway across from the school library. Each month the four students have lunch with the principal and on Dec. 6 they were honored at a Rotary breakfast. In addition this year, each student receive their own plaque, donated by George and Jean Rubly of Lake Region Awards.
