PARIS – Upping the ante, three Tickle Me Elmo dolls have been added to the growing raffle mix, one of which is the hard-to-find, must-have doll of the season, TMX Elmo, according to Fred Grace.

He launched the raffle last week to help a homeless family in West Paris.

Garce, manager of Advance Auto Parts, said he was moved by the hardship of the Chandler family, who lost their home in October. He donated some goods from his store to raffle and collected money for them. As of Wednesday the pot was up to $615.

Recently an anonymous donor who bought the dolls on eBay asked Grace if he would add the toys to the raffle, Grace said.

A winner will be drawn Dec. 20.

So, for a $1 raffle ticket or six tickets for $5, someone will now win a Tickle Me Elmo and Barbie doll in one set, a 12 Days of Christmas Elmo, a TMX Elmo, as well as a 4-horsepower air compressor, a 70-piece air compressor tool kit and a $50 gift certificate to the Main Street store.

The value of the tools is about $300, Grace said.

The Chandlers – mother Robin and her 14-, 10- and 7-year-old children – are living in a West Paris apartment but are hoping to make a down payment on a mobile home soon.

Their North Paris Road house burned in October after an extension cord caught fire. The children’s father, Curtis Chandler III, died two years ago in a car accident in Oxford.
