RUMFORD – Police will be out in force looking for drunken drivers over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Drunken driving continues to be a problem, police said.

This year, as of Thursday, there have been 74 incidents involving operating under the influence arrests and charges, seven of which involved accidents, Patrolman Paul Casey said. Fifty-four of those were first-time offenses.

“Please celebrate responsibly, and don’t take a chance, because chances are, you will be caught. Designate a driver or one will be appointed for you, straight to jail,” he added.
