Society meeting

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Old Schoolhouse, 1229 Maine St., next to the Poland Town Office. People attending the meeting are asked to bring an antique household item, tool or toy for the “What is it?” part of the meeting. Following the business meeting, refreshments will be served, and there will be a holiday party with a gift exchange. Members should bring a gift for the exchange. The public is welcome.

Site change

LEWISTON – The American Legion Post 22 will begin holding monthly meetings at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21. Meetings will be held there on every third Thursday of the month.

The agenda will include discussion on an increase of membership dues by Commander Gerald Labrie.

A short address will be given by Chaplain Paul R. Bernard on the 17th anniversary of the Panama Operation, “Just Cause.” Eighteen Soldiers, four sailors and two Marines lost their lives during the operation.

An unveiling of the new Post 22 podium will be done by Adjutant, Jerry DerBoghosian and Korean veteran Arthur Paradis of Lewiston. A light lunch will be served.

All Legion members are encouraged to attend. For additional information, call Labrie at 795-6821.

Family program

AUBURN – The Marston’s Corner Baptist Church, 752 Beech Hill Road, will hold a family Christmas program at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24.

Seniors party

SABATTUS – The Sabattus Senior Citizens held a Christmas party at C&J Hall, which was decorated with a Christmas theme. The program opened with a blessing from the Rev. Robert Parent, and a roast pork dinner with all the fixings was served by Doris Pelletier and crew. A short meeting was called to order by President Stan Pelletier, after which gifts were drawn. Bingo and baseball were played.

The Thursday, Jan. 4, dinner will be baked ham by Pauline Gemme and Larry LaCoste and crew, served at the Maxwell-Gill Hall. Members who have not signed up may call Bob at 783-6955.
