FARMINGTON – The location of a special town meeting to see if voters will agree to use money from the undesignated fund to replace the municipal building’s boiler has been changed.
The meeting, which will ask voters for around $20,000 to replace the 30-year-old boiler, will take place in the downstairs meeting room at the town community center, at 127 Middle St.
In a selectmen’s meeting last week, Town Manager Richard Davis told the board the boiler has been breaking down regularly for years now. Its most recent failure was Dec. 9.
If it breaks for good this winter, the town could be in terrible shape. The municipal building is not only used for town offices, but also houses the police and fire departments.
The special town meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26.
