FARMINGTON – Smiles could be seen everywhere as Santa made his stop at the Franklin County Children’s Task Force on an unusually warm December morning.

Children had horse-drawn carriage rides and cookies with cider and cocoa as they waited in line for the star of the day, Santa. Two little elves made their way through the line of parents and children, giving sets of hats and mittens and candy cane packets. In the parking lot the staff entertained with caroling and dancing, greeting families by name.

“It had an old home feel to it,” said Executive Director Renee Blanchet. Luce Studio was on hand to take photos, and the lobby of the center had a Christmas tree, fireplace and easy chair.

The open house was scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, but Santa stayed until close to 1. The turnout exceeded previous years by 9:30. A fun day was had by all thanks to the sleigh rides offered by the Downtown Business and Professional Association as well as cookies given by the Homestead Bakery.
