RUMFORD – A Rumford firefighter was treated and released early Wednesday evening from Rumford Hospital after he responded with Rumford and Mexico firefighters to a 4:47 p.m. chimney fire at 59 South Rumford Road, acting fire Lt. Jeremy Volkernick said Wednesday night.
Med-Care Ambulance Director Dean Milligan said he sent the man to be evaluated for exertion after the firefighter, who was wearing a breathing mask and oxygen pack, spent 30 minutes on a ladder extended to one of two chimneys at Rhonda Violette’s two-story home.
Volkernick, who declined to name the firefighter, said there was no damage to the chimney or a wood stove.
