OTISFIELD – Larry P. Heikkinen, 62, of Otisfield, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, Dec. 22, after a long illness.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1944, to Norma and Emil Heikkinen in West Paris.

He attended West Paris and Norway schools. Much of his younger years were spent fishing, playing baseball and rebuilding race cars. He worked as an auto parts clerk most of his life, retiring in 2004. Upon retirement, he spent most of his time gardening, fishing and working in his garage.

He was a kind and gentle man who loved life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife/companion and best friend, Carol Perkins of Otisfield; a son, Steven Heikkinen and wife, Julie, of South Paris, a daughter, Virginia Heikkinen and husband, Peter Harris, of Haverhill, Mass., and a son, Michael Heikkinen of South Paris; stepdaughter, Twila Perkins of Otisfield, and stepson, Matthew Perkins of South Paris; a sister, Irene Redmen of Bryant Pond, a sister, June Moore of Peru, and a brother, Gilbert Heikkinen of Surprise, Ariz.; as well as five grandchildren, Elijah and Jordan Harris, Baylee Heikkinen, and Samuel and Bree Heikkinen.

He was predeceased by his parents.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his four cats.
