PORTLAND – Gritty McDuff raised funds for the “Christmas is for Kids” campaign on Dec. 15 and 16. Gritty’s supported the Norway Savings Bank and WPOR campaign and raised $423.25.

It is the first time Gritty’s has joined the campaign, but it’s the 10th year that WPOR has run the campaign.

The funds benefit disadvantaged children. Last year, more than $13,000 was raised and served approximately 650 children from Western Maine, Portland, Biddeford and beyond.

Depending on their needs, children attended a holiday party with food, presents and an appearance by Santa. Other families received gift certificates so they could purchase gifts for their own children, and many children received new hats and gloves.

Funding in the area went to Right Start of Oxford, Department of Human Services Foster Families and Sweetser family services.
