LEWISTON – A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Dumont was held Saturday morning at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Dakin celebrating the Mass.

The urn bearer was Daniel Letourneau, grandson of Irene, who placed his grandmother’s urn in front of the alter. Brother Irenee Richard read both the Old and New Testament readings, and granddaughter, Shelly Jacques and her husband, Norman, brought the offertory gifts to the alter before communion.

Following Mass, a procession formed to St. Peter’s Cemetery where Brother Irenee Richard recited committal prayers.

At the conclusion of committal prayers, all of Irene’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren formed a circle around the statue of the Blessed Virgin outside St. Peter’s Chapel and released individual white balloons in honor of their grandmother and great-grandmother. Then all departed the cemetery for a reception of fellowship at Donna’s Day Care in Lewiston. Arrangements were by Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel & Tribute Center, Auburn.
