Library fundraiser under way ’til March 4

PHILLIPS – The ninth annual penny sale auction to benefit the Phillips Public Library has begun. Donations of new or gently used items are being accepted at the library building on Main Street.

For more information, contact Winona Davenport at 639-4296. Tickets are sold in strips of 25 for $1 and must purchased in advance of the drawing on March 4.

In addition to the more than 200 items normally displayed, four articles have been selected for silent bids. After viewing the items, interested bidders may write their name and bid on a paper, which will be opened at the auction. The highest bidder will have one week to pick up and pay for the item.

Articles on display are a rocking chair, coffee table, electrified buffet chandeliers and a 1968 Rebekah cookbook.

Tickets are on sale during regular library hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and a special time from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. The rear entrance is handicapped accessible.
