Meeting canceled

MECHANIC FALLS – The special meeting of Tyrian Lodge 73, planned for Thursday, Jan. 18, has been canceled. Members should watch Temple Wanderings for a new date for the Fellowcraft Degree.

Society speaker

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Old Schoolhouse, 1229 Maine St., next to the Poland Town Office. Lenny Brooks will be present to speak on the Shakers of Shaker Hill. Coffee will be served before the meeting. The public is invited.

Game night

POLAND – Excelsior Grange 5 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the hall on Harris Hill Road. After the business meeting, a game night will be held and members are reminded to being small items for prizes as well as a favorite game to play. All grange members and their guests are invited.

Fellowship

AUBURN – The Young at Heart Fellowship will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Court Street Baptist Church. President Winston Greaton will conduct a business meeting. Devotions will be led by the Rev. David Clark, pastor of the Court Street Baptist Church.

A potluck luncheon will be held at noon. Members should bring items for the luncheon signed up for at the last meeting, also a place setting and item for the door prize. All senior citizens are welcome.

Initiate group

LEWISTON – Beacon Hospice “Harbors of Hope” Bereavement Program will start a grief support group to be hosted by Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, 62 Strawberry Ave.

The eight-week support group will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 11 through April 1. The group can help participants recognize that while the feelings they are experiencing are uniquely theirs, they follow a similar path to that of many others.

Archery practice

OXFORD – Archery practice will be held at 6 p.m. Fridays, Jan. 19 through March, at the Lake Thompson Fish and Game clubhouse, Paine Road, East Oxford. The public is welcome. For more information, call Ed at 539-4713.
