Dance for a cause

JAY – The Knights of Columbus Hall will be the setting for a benefit dinner and dance on Saturday, Jan. 20. The supper will be from 4 to 7 p.m., followed immediately by the dance.

Proceeds will benefit the family of David Holland, a resident of Livermore Falls, who died unexpectedly in the Rangeley area while tipping fir boughs for Christmas wreaths.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and other raffles. Proceeds will go toward the burial costs and a fund for his boys, Jacob and Jared Holland.

Dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The dance is $5. For more information, contact Donna and Gerald Farrington at 897-3151.

Grange supper

CHESTERVILLE – Chesterville Grange 20 will sponsor a public bean supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20. Cost is $6 for adults; $3, children. It will include baked beans, salads, chop suey and homemade pies.

Spaghetti supper

JAY – A spaghetti and meatball supper will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, to benefit Paul Chretien, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The meal will be at the Jay VFW, and deliveries will be made to Verso Paper and the Otis Mill. For more information, call Harold and Marcia Newcomb at 897-3883.

Seniors program

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens did not have their regular meeting on Jan. 8 because of bad weather conditions. They met Jan. 15 when it was announced that on Monday, Jan. 22, Sandy Gregor from SeniorsPlus will be at Murray Hall to conduct the Matter of Balance exercise class from 9 to 11 a.m. Cost is $10. Members who are concerned about losing their balance are invited to attend the class. The exercises are easy and helpful in having a better sense of balance.

Archery practice

OXFORD – Archery practice will be held at 6 p.m. Fridays, Jan. 19 through March, at the Lake Thompson Fish and Game clubhouse, Paine Road, East Oxford. The public is welcome. For more information, call Ed at 539-4713.
