Speaking of snubbing legislators, in his letter published Jan. 12, Rep. Walter Gooley of, R-Farmington, only listed Republican legislators who are professional foresters. I wonder if he is aware that Rep. Nancy Smith, D-Monmouth, is also a licensed professional forester?

Rep. Smith, representing House District 80, is in her third term in the Legislature, giving her significantly more experience there than many of those Gooley cited. She also has more than 20 years of forestry experience. During her tenure, Smith has made valuable contributions to the various forestry issues that have been before the Legislature.

It seems to me she has earned, and deserves recognition, for her public service and her professional experience.

Hopefully, Gooley’s omission of her name was an oversight.
