LEWISTON – Candidates for the Feb. 27 ballot to finish Lionel Guay’s term as mayor will meet at a forum next week at L-A College.
“It’s not a debate,” said moderator Chip Morrison, president of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a forum for people to talk about their views. They don’t get the opportunity to question each other.”
The forum is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 in room 170.
Each candidate will have three minutes for an opening statement. For the next hour, Morrison will take written questions from the public for candidates to answer.
“If it’s a good question, everyone gets it,” he said. “If you have something aimed at one person specifically, it’s not going to happen.”
Four people are on the ballot: city Councilor Normand Rousseau, former police Chief Larry Gilbert, School Committee member Leah Poulin and perennial candidate Charles Soule.
The Multi-Purpose Center will be the only polling place for the Feb. 27 ballot.
