DURHAM, N.H. (AP) – The University of New Hampshire said it will increase its health education program following the death of a senior died from bacterial meningitis.
Danielle Thompson, of Bangor, Maine, died Jan. 3 from the disease. Since then, college health officials have talked with students and warned them about the disease.
The school also is offering a vaccine for $116 to help prevent the illness.
Meningitis kills between 150 and 300 Americans a year.
