WISCASSET – Kaylie DeMillo drained 26 points to lead Jay to a 61-49 victory over Wiscasset in a MVC girls’ matchup Wednesday. Brie Beisaw chipped in for the Tigers with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

After leading by just two at intermission, Jay used a 22-12 run in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Megan Foye paced the Redskins (2-12) with a 17-point performance, while Marissa Hammond tallied 10.

Rangeley 39, Hebron 8

HEBRON – Rangeley clamped down on defense and cruised to a 39-8 win over Hebron Academy in girls’ high school basketball action Wednesday.

Angela White scored 14 points and hauled down eight rebounds to lead the Lakers (9-3) at the offensive end. Ali Godaire, Kirsta Brackett and Hayley White dominated the defensive end with five steals apiece. Kainani Stevens led Hebron (5-3) with four points.

Mountain Valley 58, Boothbay 46

RUMFORD – Tanya Martin popped in 14 points and made five assists to propel Mountain Valley to a 58-46 victory over Boothbay in another MVC girls’ matchup Wednesday. Vanessa Cayer chipped in for the Falcons (5-8) with 12 points, while Lauren Lepage added 11.

Mountain Valley came out of the first quarter tied at 11, then went on a 15-5 run in the second to take command.

The Seahawks (3-9) were paced by Ali Hartley with a 14-point effort, while Brittany Markowski added 12.

Buckfield 81, Pine Tree 20

BUCKFIELD – Kasey Farrington netted 14 points to pace Buckfield to a 81-20 rout over Pine Tree Academy in girls’ basketball. Tristan Newton chipped in for the Bucks (7-2) with 12 points, while Abby Jones tallied 11 and Lindsey Henderson added 10.

The Bucks (7-2) went on a 28-4 run in the second quarter and were never challenged.

Kazia Bennett paced Pine Tree (0-12) with a 16-point performance.

Winthrop 58, Mt. Abram 55

WINTHROP – Katie Pushard’s eight points sparked a 22-10 run in the fourth quarter as Winthrop edged Mt. Abram 58-55 in another MVC tilt.

Pushard led the Ramblers (6-7) with 15 points, while Amanda Garwood chipped in with 14 and Lindsey Gordon added 10.

The Roadrunners (8-6) were paced by Kenni Norton with 14 points, while Brittany York added 13.

Mt. Abram led by eight at the half but dropped its guard in the final frame.

Georges Valley 56, Carrabec 48

CARRABEC – Ashley Geel scored a game-high 23 points to lead Georges Valley to a come-from-behind 56-48 win over Carrabec in an MVC girls’ basketball game Wednesday night.

Trailing 40-35 heading into the final period, Georges Valley (6-7) outscored Carrabec, 21-8, to avert the upset. Chelsea Webster and Samantha Buchanan scored eight points apiece for the Buccaneers. Megan Murray had 16 points, six rebounds and four steals to lead the Cobras (1-12), while Erica French added 13.

Hall-Dale 45, Telstar 34

BETHEL – Hall-Dale converted its foul shots down the stretch to pull away for a 45-34 victory over Telstar.

The Rebels (7-7) stormed back in the third quarter with 17 points after scoring just 10 points in the first half to tie the game at 27-27. Bailey Davis hit three of her four 3-pointers during that stretch. Hall-Dale was clinging to a five-point lead with 1:30 to play, but buried eight of nine free throws to seal the win.

Davis finished with 18 points. Amy Skillings and Brita Olsen led the Bulldogs with 16 points each.

Boys’ basketball

Gould 48, Hyde 35

BETHEL – Duane Seekman poured a game-high 17 points to propel Gould to a 48-35 victory over Hyde in boy’s prep school basketball action Wednesday. Evan Bruens chipped in for Gould (8-0) with 12 points.

Colin Vies paced Hyde (6-5) with a 14-point performance, the only player to reach double digits. Gould held a 26-17 advantage at the half and was never challenged.

Hebron 82, Kents Hill 63

HEBRON – Charles Hinkle scored 22 points to lead Hebron Academy to an 82-63 win over Kents Hill in boys’ prep school basketball action Wednesday.

Powell Piatyiowski poured in a game-high 29 points for Kents Hill. Brad Smith added 18 points and Corey Sanders-Frison 12 for Hebron (10-9).

Buckfield 70, Pine Tree 49

BUCKFIELD – Zack Cowett netted 13 points and pulled down 13 rebounds Wednesday evening to lead Buckfield to a 70-49 rout over Pine Tree Academy in boys’ hoops action. Cy Wilkinson led the mighty Bucks (4-5) with 17 points, while Jon Condon contributed with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Cody Lounder led Pine Tree (5-5) with a game-high 22 points, the only player to reach double digits. The Bucks set a blistering pace from the start, building a 23-16 lead in the first quarter before easing up as the game progressed.

Hockey

Leavitt 3, Marshwood 2

AUBURN – Tyler Robitaille scored a hat trick, including the game-winner with four minutes left, as Leavitt edged Marshwood, 3-2, in Class B hockey action Wednesday night.

Travis Pease and Zach Avery netted the goals for Marshwood (2-8), while Mark Haley stopped 22 shots in goal. Richard Thibault collected 19 saves for Leavitt (7-6-1).
